Scott Bogart, Founder
Scott grew up near San Luis Obispo, and has lived in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area since 1975. His accounting career began with the CPA firm of Bartlett, Pringle and Wolf in Santa Barbara, and he was certified in 1977. During the evenings he was an accounting instructor at The University of California, Santa Barbara.
He started his own practice in 1983, which later became Bogart, Elliott & Grady, CPAs. They were the primary accountants for the Kinko’s Organization beginning 1985 until Kinko’s was sold to Clayton, Dubilier, and Rice in 1997. During this period Kinko’s grew from $80 million to over $1 billion in sales. His firm prepared quarterly financial statements, was liaison to the tax accountants and certified auditors, and was involved in many projects, including designing accounting systems and negotiating the early termination of $50 million of operating leases involving 150 vendors. Scott personally provided CFO Outsource services to over twenty of the Kinko's entities. Other firm clients included Diamond Back Bicycles and Patagonia.
Bogart, Elliott & Grady, CPAs was dissolved after the sale of Kinko’s. From 1997 to 2007 Scott was the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of two Ventura high-tech startup companies, DataProse, Inc. and DolphinSearch, Inc. DataProse provided commercial billing statement services to telephone companies and public utilities, serving national markets with multi-state production facilities. DolphinSearch was a litigation support company which provided Electronic Data Discovery (EDD) services to Fortune 500 clients and some of the largest law firms in the world. Both companies were successfully sold.
Scott graduated with honors from San Diego State University with a B.S. degree in Accounting. He holds a California CPA license and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He has also completed extensive graduate study in the field of law.
